Carols on the stairs

We have had our boarders carols on the stairs once again! This year Miss Palmer organised our wonderful evening with booklets filled with carols. We had some Spanish carols and good old Australian Jingle bells for the Aussie residents! Everyone got into the spirit of Christmas, singing loud and clear surrounded by friends and our boarding family. Treats were had after all our hard singing was complete then we were off to dream about Christmas! Our last Wednesday activity before Christmas and Miss Stubbings' last post on the boarders blog! Have a wonderful Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year to you all! Over and out, Miss Stubbings! :)

Fun afternoon out!

On sunday we were treated to a trip to @Bristol, The Planitarium and we went Ice Skating! Before we headed off on the coach, Brunch was had then we all wrapped up in our coats and scarves. The Planitarium was first once we had arrived. The children surprised us all with their knowledge of the stars which was great to see. We then had a play around the two levels of @Bristol. Some of our spanish children hadnt been before so they were madly running around trying out every science experiment they possible could. Soon after the children were given five pounds to spend in the shop, i did see many christmas presents being bought for family and friends which was lovely.

Then we all were outside getting ready for some fun on the ice! Everyone collected their skates and we waited for the rush of people flying onto the rink to start our 45 minutes. Safe to say, i was very proud of all the children. We had some who were very good at skating and for others it was their first time. Everyone was helping each other out when someone fell or if they needed a hand to hold. We all left Bristol on such a high from the wonderful afternoon out!

Party time!

Last week we had one of our very popular boarders disco's! the outfits were decided, the room was set up, Dj Wheatley at the ready and tuck in hand! All the children came running to the sound of music in St Bedes. Lots of dance moves, some from Mr Callow who has been hiding his dancing abilities from us. Everyone was moving and shaking which was great to see. One direction seemed to be popular once again as the singing didnt stop. A great night for all!

Open Mike Night and painting shirts!

Wednesday night we held our second open mike night. Some dorms had prepared their performances beforehand, whilst others got into the groove of things half way through the night. The year eight girls dressed the year eight boys, so we ended up with alot of year eight 'girls'. With some songs sung, Waka Waka, call me maybe, lighters, we were also treated to some special performances from Mr Callow and Mr Opie singing Barbie Girl. And from Mr Wheatley singing What makes you beautiful by the infamous One Direction, lots of screaming girls at All Hallows! We all enjoyed our rather loud evening and hope another mike night is on soon!

First week back

So we managed to get through our first week back after half term. Our boarders had a movie night on Wednesday. With tuck and Night at the Museum 2, they were all settled into St Bedes. Sunday had us all catching a coach off to Bath for a couple of hours shopping. Accompanied by Mr and Mrs Green, Miss Phippard and Miss Mewburn, all the boarders were off to buy their Christmas goodies. Presents were bought for parents, so some of you will get some nice gifts, whilst the rest of the kids bought sweets of course! It was lovely weather for our afternoon out then we were back at schoool for hot chocolate and biscuits!

Due to a wet weather forecast yet again, our plans changed. This time the boarders went bowling in Yeovil. With the lanes booked for 2pm, a nice warm roast lunch was had before the minibus and car set off for Yeovil. There were lots of smiles and cheers, as bvowling balls zoomed down those lanes. Some spending money was given out, so most children cxame back with a faces full of smiles, and bags full of sweets! Hope everyone has a lovely half time, and that the ch9ldren come back fresh faced for the rest of the term!

An unexpected change

Due to some unexpected English weather, our boarders had to change their trip on sunday. Instead of visiting Stourhead gardens in the rain, they opted for a trip to the cinema! Wells Cinema was inundated with All Hallows boarders all ready to watch the thrilling movie... Turbo! About a snail who becomes a really fast race car driver, or so ive been told. Haven't heard any reviews yet from the kids but ill get back to you!

Red and Black!

This wednesday night activity was red and black night! Names and challenges were drawn out of a bowl to decide which teachers, Mr Callow, Mr Toomey, Miss Palmer, Miss Bottger, Miss Stubbings and Mr Wheatley, would compete against each other. For each challenge, the children had to pick a side. If their chosen teacher won their challenge they were still in the competition, if not, they were booted out! Some of the challenges included the longest head stand, wall sit, hand walking, juggling and heads and tails. A lot of noise and cheering was heard in the gym, all of the parents could probably hear from Cranmore, im sure!

The crowd waits for the next challenge..

Mr Wheatley and Mr Callow in the head stand challenge, the winner was... Mr Wheatley!

Miss Stubbings and Miss Palmer in the heads and tails coin challenge!

Surf Simulator!

After a very busy saturday full of enrichments, hockey and rugby tournaments our boarders were rather tired come sunday. luckily it was a lovely day outside so we all could enjoy the sunshine and some chill out time. the tennis courts were in use, as well as the adventure playground. We had a very special treat, being the surf simulator. I have heard some great reveiews from the kids about the surf board. The aim is to stay on the board for as long as you can, while it moves to and fro in order to make you fall. Our champion surfer on the day came very close indeed, Maria and Benedict came to the same time of 1 minute and 25 seconds, however Benedict spent the last two seconds on his knees! So Maris was crowned champion of the day! Hot chocolate and biscuits were a nice final treat at letter writing before bed. Hope this weeks weather stays nice and sunny, highly ulikely im sure.
