Superheros and Supervillains disco!

This week our boarders got very dressed up ready for our Superheros and Supervillains disco party! St Bede's was decked out with lights and speakers ready for our dance party. The Dj's kept the music flowing throughout the disco with refreshments supplied to all  by our very own Super Callow! (see photo). The costumes were very imaginative with many kids having planned their outfits during half term. Some were not so organised but managed to search around for items that could be changed into superheros! Quite a few of the boys opted to being villains whilst the girls got very fancy and glittery to save everyone! It was great to see everyone get involved to dance the macarena and join in on the conga line!

All Hallows got Talent!

The last tursday before half term was when the All Hallows got Talent competition was held. Competitors came from far and wide to compete for a trip to pizza hut. A total of five acts performed in front of a live studio audience, to gain as much suport as possible for when the voting began, as well as our four judges... Miss Tatiana Sharon Osbourne, Mr Peirs Opie Morgan, Mr Louis Northcott Walsh and Mr Emilio Cowell. This was a mixed judging panel, but they all managed to give very gracious critiques to our five acts!

The year 7 boys started off the night with their comedy act which invited many laughs into the studio. The younger boys had a few late comers but managed to pull off a great rendition of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' led by the man himself, Jaime, who was very well dressed. Make up was done by our very own Mrs Moulten, who we must give a huge round of applause to, those zombies would not have looked the same without her! Lara gave us a beautiful solo performance singing 'Colours of the wind' which was wonderful  to watch. All of the judges congratulated her on her courage for standing up there by herself and giving a fantastic performance. Cassia also gave a solo singing a gorgeous song from Toy Story,  which she received a large applause for. Our last act was the cheery year 7 girls, who had been rehearsing for days for their big performance. They finished with, 'Life is a highway' and their very own choreographed routine which they had practiced endlessly.

Overall all of the acts were different and very entertaining for our audience. The voting was superb with all acts coming in very closely. But there could only be one winner... and the winner was....Cassia! Cassia won and is also allowed to treat her whole dorm for a trip to Pizza Hut. Well done Cassia!

Paintball Wars

Paintballing was the sunday activity for all of the boarders on the last weekend before half term. Lucky for us there was no rain but there was a whole lot of mud, so apologies to parents who may have struggled  to recover the sight of their childrens shoes. We all jumped on the bus and headed out to the forest of destruction. Some first timers were very nervous and this was not helped by the experienced lot bragging about the pain that would soon be inflicted. The young ones aged 12 and under were put into their own games of low impact paintballing and were sent off nice and early for a couple of rounds. Six games were played in total for the seniors with 300 paint bullets available for all of the kids. Some became very trigger happy and blew out their bullets rather quickly whilst others hid and saved their bullets for when the time was right. The kids had a lot of fun hitting their teachers and Gaps with the last game being declared open slather on the adults, to use up all remaing bullets, who were cowering in the fort with no bullets and with nowhere to go! Overall it was a great day with everyone in the fresh air and with their adreniline pumping!

Boarders Netball Tournamant

Another Thursday night activity consisted of a netball tournament! All of the boarders were split into teams ready to play a round robin tournemant in the gym. For many this was their first time playing netball so the rules were not your average rules as they seemed to consist of multiple steps being allowed and very close obstruction. The six teams played very enthusiastically and everyone got involved which made the night great fun! The red team came away with a victory closely followed by the yellows. The Gaps and Miss Kerr also joined in as spare players where required which created a bit of a buzz for all of the kids!

Snow and the start of term!

The boarders started off the term with their thursday night activity being the 'Build a burger' contest.
As you can see from the pictures this was a night of excess! Armed with a plethora of ingredients, the aim was to build the biggest and best burger possible. Prizes were given for the tallest, the most aesthetically pleasing, and the most fillings (successfully eaten by the builder). Great fun was had by all and no horses were harmed in the making of this night…!

The boys

We are getting used to these now! The school looked a picture as it was covered in a thick blanket of snow. The children needed no extra encouragement to don; hats, coats scarves, wellies and gloves and charge off into the snow. As previously it was all hands to the pump as minus many domestic staff, Mrs Hannah, Miss Kerr and Mrs Moulton took to the kitchen. Children are always very willing to lend a hand in such circumstances and the feeling of community was evident, as holed up in our cosy manor house…we battled the elements…and made snow men!

The boarders also made a trip into Birstol to visit @Bristol. This was a very informative day as we learnt about stars and constellations that can be seen at night, as well as playing with the scientific experiments found throughout the museum and the facts they learnt about endless topics. The boarders enjoyed their lovely day inside considering it was rather nippy on the outside of the heated building. They were accompanied by Mr and
Mrs Green as well as Mr Ellery who very much enjoyed the seating after their long drives. Im sure the best part of the day was spending money in the shop at the end. It seemed impossible for some to choose which pencil or rubber they woiuld buy to out with the rest of their stationary back at school!
