Summer disco and Pottery Painting!

This week we held our annual Summer Disco in St Bedes. The disco ball was set up nice and high ready for some dancing and jumping. The sun refused to go down so we made the most of our curtains and flashing lights. Lots of dancing went on with some help from the Gaps and a few teachers. The Russians busted out some amazing moves and showed Mr Callow a thing or two!

Sunday was a nice relaxed day at school. With the year 7 production coming into its final rehearsals, the year 7's involved rehearsed their little hearts out while the rest of our boarders went to a Pottery Painting class in the art rooms. Mugs, bowls and plates were painted in bright colours, fantastic patterns and  designed with great thought. These will now be sent off to be glazed and kiln fired so they will return in tip top shape! A fun and different activity today after yet another busy week with summer term drawing to a close.

Open mike night and shopping!

Last week our boarders and residents were lucky enough to watch our All Hallows open mike night! Each dorm prepared a mini showcase for us all to enjoy. With the backing music played by Mr Opie and Mr Zorilla the boarders were set for a very loud and musical night. A highlight of the night was a wonderful rendition of wonder wall by none other then our very own Mr Callow. It was impossible to choose a winner from our terrific acts that everyone was a winner on the night!

Yesterday, the boarders ventured off to Clarkes Village for another shopping expedition. From what I've heard, Sports direct and Cadbury's world made an absolute killing out of the boarders pockets after many sweets and sporting gear was bought back to school! They all enjoyed getting out of school and blowing some well kept cash.

First week back

Last week being the first back after half term was a bit full on. with CE exams around the school, year seven camp and the sun shining it was a busy but exciting time as summer holidays draw near. The boarders held a little rounder's tournament on Thursday evening as the sun stayed put we were able to get outside. Sunday, with a slight change of plan the boarders ended up walking up Cley Hill. Thanks to Mr Bird, a brief summary of their trip is given below.

A band of intrepid explorers from All Hallows Holiday Camp set off this Sunday to conquer local mountain Cley Hill, known by sherpas as ‘Hallus Bovus Feces’, or, familiarly, the Hill That Always Smiles (believed to be a corruption from the word ‘smells’).  We reached base camp without incident and a vote was taken to ascend via the more difficult north face, without oxygen, and without full climbing gear.  We knew we always had our All Hallows packed lunches to sustain us if times became hard.  Not long later the entire group reached the summit successfully – some 750’ above the surrounding clayland - and a runner was sent to The Times and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to announce the good news.  Wild mountain wildebeest looking strangely like cows were given a wide berth and, although we were tempted to eat them, as the clouds thickened and the wind sprang up, we resisted the urge and let them graze contentedly, taking care to pick our way delicately over the widespread cowpats..  We were in good spirits.  Ball games followed. And after a lengthy time taking geological samples of the chalk downlands, viewing the Bronze Age round barrows, the medieval fields, and imagining what life was like for people at the time of the Iron Age hill forts, we descended safely to rejoin those who continue to live on Flatland.
