On a beautiful September afternoon, a band of hardy, if slightly nervous, warriors headed for a secret location in the depths of Somerset to do battle amongst themselves.
Safety kit was donned, briefings listened too and then, after a short forced march into the woods, battle commenced. Using a combination of guile, stealth and aggression, the warriors closed with the enemy (their former friends, now on the opposing team) unleashing a hail of orange paint balls on anything that moved. Several scenarios were played out, from ‘Capture the Flag’, to ‘Seek and Destroy’ before finishing with a free for all to use up any remaining paint pellets.
With a scoring system that made the Duckworth-Lewis method seem simple, the lead ebbed and flowed, but at the conclusion the scores between the two teams were equal and honour was even.
The sun shone, the adrenaline flowed and the children had a super time and they were buzzing, but weary, as they made the triumphant journey home.
