This last Sunday, the boarding children travelled to Mendip Snowsport Centre where they were able to participate in rifle shooting, archery, and skiing!
The children were separated into 3 different groups and spent an hour on each of the different activities. For example, one of the groups began at the rifle shooting activity where they were first shown how to use the pellet guns - safely, of course! - and then they were able to begin shooting at targets. Additionally, a talk on the how to operate the rifles safely was given, as well as headphones for the deafening noise.
Next, they changed to the skiing activity which was taken out on a dry slope - has no real snow, just a synthetic flooring - where fortunately everybody had a go. The experienced skiers of the group could go and do their own thing, whilst those of us who were beginners started off slowly with lessons before tackling the slopes.
Their last activity was archery which many find surprisingly difficult - some of the kids even managed to shoot a bulls-eye!
